I'm supposed to be writing something else at the moment but I'm struggling to put two words together so I figured I'd write about Last Waltz instead. Probably the first (and last) time I'll use blogging as a procrastination technique. Anyway Last Waltz are a trio of DJs/Producers based in the North East of England who also run the Object of Distraction label. 'Tangiers' is only their second release and it's a Balearic slow burner of a track backed with a deep remix from Cottam. This is out now on the Endless Flight label and you can download it here.

Following a couple of remix cameos last year Softwar finally make their debut proper on the Future Classic label with 'This Time Around'. The Sydney duo have managed to craft four absolutely stunning tracks for this release, with some seriously uplifting House vibes on the title track and 'Taken Liberty'. The Chopshop label have gathered together some supremely funky edit/reworks for their latest release with contributions from Disco Tech, DJ Raw Sugar, Copycat and DJ Agent 86. There's some stone-cold classics getting worked over here including the fantastic Bob James track 'Nautilus'. I was a big Hip Hop head as a teenager so I'll forever associate it with Ghostface Killah's 'Daytona 500' but Copycat has done a pretty damn fine job of reworking it. Seems like ages since I've heard anything from Ilija Rudman so I was pleasantly surprised when I spotted this on Juno. There's two tracks on this 12" and as always the production from Ilija is faultless, carving out some seriously deep grooves with a little sprinkling of Cosmic dust. It's Monday, which most people hate with a passion but I'm certainly not one of them. Monday means new releases and there is nothing better than going through new releases, especially when something as good as the One For The Road EP is in there. This is only the second effort from Outernational Recordings and all four tracks on here are outstanding. There's some beautiful House flavours on show, from the uplifting soul of Kastil's 'She's Back' to the pitched down sounds of Thomas Malo's 'Shelter'. This was originally released on 12" at the end of 2011 which you can still get here and you can download it here.

Todays post isn't, as some of you may have been hoping, an in-depth discussion of Stallone's cinematic output throughout the 1980's. I'll save that for another day. This is all about the latest EP from London based producer 80's Stallone. As you might already have guessed, there's a big 80's/Italo flavour to his sound which is always a good thing. I can never get enough of those 80's drums sounds. There's two original tracks from him on this EP and a couple of ace remixes from L'Equipe Du Son and The Legendary 1979 Orchestra. This comes out on February 13th on the Silhouette Music label.

Editorial/Kinjo head honcho Dave Allison has very kindly put together the first guest mix of the year and I can guarantee you will love it. I've had it on repeat for most of the day and it really is something special. You'll be hearing a lot more from Dave over the next few months, he's got releases lined-up on House of Disco, In The Woods and an Editorial Limited Vinyl release of Inner City (Jazz Dub). There's also the latest Editorial installment which will be available to download in February and features contributions from Joseph Terruel, Rocco Raimundo, HotBox and Heion. I don't know how he manages to get so much done but he makes me feel like a total slacker!

Matthew Kyle has been a busy boy this year, not just producing fantastic tunes but also starting up his own label, In The Woods, and he even found time to do a guest mix for yours truly. Really enjoying this remix of Jeremy Glenn 'New Life' from Texan producer Perseus. The original is a fantastic track but this is even better, he's given the vocal a melancholy edge which I just can't resist.
